Chicken with lemon sauce

Chicken with lemon sauce is a zesty and flavorful dish that's perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion. Here’s a simple recipe to make it:

Chicken with Lemon Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1-2 lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons capers (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    1. Season the chicken breasts or thighs with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, shaking off the excess.
  2. Cook the Chicken:

    1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
    2. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Lemon Sauce:

    1. In the same skillet, add a little more oil or butter if needed, and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
    2. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
    3. Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest. Add the capers if using. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, or until it has reduced slightly.
  4. Combine and Serve:

    1. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and spoon some of the sauce over the top. Let it heat through for a few minutes.
    2. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
  5. Serve:

    1. Serve the chicken with lemon sauce over rice, pasta, or with a side of steamed vegetables.

This dish has a bright, tangy flavor from the lemon and can be adjusted to your taste by adding more or less lemon juice. Enjoy!
